Rent-it - This sappy Dutch melodrama about three women immigrating to New Zealand to find their future husbands is as predictable and nostalgic as a candle-lit bubble bath.

Skip-it - An intriguing true story about wine shop owner that fails to shine through on film.

Anvil! The Story of Anvil

Rent-it - If you are lucky enough to find it playing in a theater near you and if you loved This Is Spinal Tap (and who didn't) you will love this documentary of a real-life rock band.

Rent-it - Obvious and unoriginal, this justice system docu-drama delivers on every other level, therefore earning it a mild Rent-it" rating.

Skip-it - A completely baffling movie about an "accidental" marriage that to no-surprise-of-anyone-with half-a-brain displeases the original fiancÈ. Confused? Yeah, me too!

At the Death House Door

Rent-it - An extremely haunting yet interesting documentary about a Pastor who stood by the side of 95 men during their executions, recording his thoughts about each.  

Assassination of a High School President

Skip-it - Mischa Barton (The OC) co-stars in this noir/comedy about a school newspaper writer who uncovers a conspiracy.  

300

Buy-it - It was an amazing experience in IMAX, and it's almost as cool on Blu-ray. This stylishly violent story about 300 Spartans at war against thousands of Persians put director Zack Snyder on the map by bringing Frank Miller's (Sin City, Watchmen) graphic novel to life on the big screen - and now it's yours to own at home.

Battle for Terra

Skip-it - Even at 85 minutes long this sci-fi 3-D animated alien-invasion film not worth your time. 

Cars

Rent-it - This animated Pixar film is more appropriate for kids than The Incredibles, but less satisfying for adults, and nowhere near the story about toys or journey of the last robot on Earth - and remember a mediocre Pixar film is 4x better than 95% of the other films in the world today.

Bergman Island

Rent-it - Cinephiles will appreciate this documentary on Ingmar Bergman, one of the greatest movie directors ever.

Rent-it - Bruce Willis and Sharon Stone disappear behind the surprisingly superb performances by the younger, "cooler" Emile Hirsch and Justin Timberlake in this drama based on the true story of a drug dealer who became one of the youngest men ever to be on the FBI's most wanted list.

Rent-it - This remake starring Ethan Hawke and Laurence Fishburne tight-rope walks on the line between entertaining, but over-the-top B-movie and formulaic suspense drama. Rent it, and decide for yourself.

Collateral

Buy-it - Tom Cruise's most eccentric performance to date is in this action thriller film as a mysterious passenger in always eccentric Jamie Foxx's cab.

Catwoman

Skip-it - One of the top 25 all-time worst films is only minimally better with Halle Berry in high-def leather.

2 Fast 2 Furious

Skip-it - A much worse sequel to The Fast and The Furious.

The Count of Monte Cristo

Rent-it - A great ole-fashioned swashbuckler starring Guy Pearce and James Caviezel with a lot of drama, and even more action and adventure. It's a little bit of everything and whole lot more.

Equilibrium

Rent-it - Though ripped by most critics, this stylish futuristic action drama starring Christian Bale remains one of my favorite underrated films of all time, about a nation where emotion is illegal and designer drugs and governing police make sure the people remain emotionless.

Cats & Dogs

Rent-it - If you have kids your family might enjoy this original story about dogs saving the world from falling under the rule of cats, but it's no Pixar film.
